I am directed by Sir Robert Hart, to whom I telegraphed the purport of your despatch No. 440 of the 15th. instant, to acquaint you, for the information of His Excellency the Governor, that we can move our office out of Hongkong forth- -with and shall withdraw completely as soon as residences are ready on the Chinese mainland, and a Chinese Bank, established there by the Hoppo of Canton for the receipt of the Dues and Duties we now deposit in the Hongkong and Shanghal Bank.
